CHW Company Intranet

The CHW Intranet is an online and mobile application built on Sharepoint that consolidates company information and streamlines internal communication. It was built with the company’s employees in mind and helps them find any necessary announcements, documents, and forms without having to go too far.
Problem
When I first arrived at CHW, I found that finding accurate project information was too difficult to obtain and the extensive process got in the way of effective communication. It quickly became apparent that the company needed a centralized resource that provided company templates, information on human resources and administration, and kept all employees up-to-date on important news.
Solution
The CHW Intranet is an online and mobile application that successfully consolidated CHW’s information and streamlined internal communication. It has benefited the company by providing a place where new and current employees can learn more about the organizational structure of each department, the culture they work in, and the types of benefits they might be missing out on.
Research and Discovery
We needed to pinpoint what information was getting lost and how. Luckily, CHW’s leadership team had already consolidated this information and provided us with a list of items they would want to see on a company Intranet.
These items were categorized into pages and sections:
Home
CHW Culture
Tools + Support
Benefits + Pay
Careers + Learning
We created wireframes of each page and organized each item into a hierarchy based on level of importance.
Creating Branded Visuals
We needed to create graphics that met and built on brand standards. At the time, CHW was transitioning into a new style for its brand, and the Intranet helped push the new style even further. We established backgrounds for each page that were based on the artistic elements used throughout the company’s new headquarters. The icons used for the quick links also reflected the brand, but established the Intranet with its own style.
